Another month flew by! I have noticed that I continue to have that very slight swelling in the lower abdominal area that comes and goes. I have since joined a few support groups online and after hearing stories of many other women who have had this procedure, it appears that this is a very common scenario. I continue to use my compression garment during the week while at work, and will often still use my abdominal binder (applied loosely) at night to sleep with extra support. I am also doing full unrestricted core exercises now, which feels good to be back to.
The only other major update is that instead of silicone scar gel, I have changed to using silicone gel adhesive strips. It is a lot more convenient than rubbing the gel in, waiting for it to dry, and then getting dressed. I simply apply the strips, and since they are breathable I just leave them on constantly unless they get loose from working out (and I can just wash them, let them air dry and reapply until the adhesive wears off completely). And I always wondered whether or not my clothes were just rubbing off the gel anyways. I feel like I have already seen some improvement/flattening/fading of the scar with just a few weeks wear of the strips, so I will continue until I see my surgeon for my 6 month checkup and see what she says.
